‘Rogers v. Rogers’ Boardroom Drama Gets a Stage Date

Rogers drama.

Crow’s Theatre has announced the world premiere of Rogers v. Rogers, a new play based on the fight for control of telecom giant Rogers. The show will run from December 2 to 28, 2025, at the Guloien Theatre inside Streetcar Crowsnest in Toronto.

Adapted by playwright Michael Healey and directed by Chris Abraham, the production is inspired by Globe and Mail reporter Alexandra Posadzki’s book Rogers v. Rogers: The Battle for Control of Canada’s Telecom Empire. The play explores the internal battle between Edward Rogers and his family following the death of company founder Ted Rogers, set against the backdrop of Rogers’ controversial takeover of Shaw.

Actor Tom Rooney takes on all roles in the solo performance, including public servant Matthew Boswell, Canada’s Competition Commissioner, who sought to block the deal.

Crow’s Theatre calls the production “a timely, complex portrait of democracy under pressure,” blending political drama and dark humour to reflect on legacy, loyalty, and unchecked ambition. I guess if you like plays and are a fan of the Rogers boardroom drama, this might be for you.

Earlier today, it was reported Videotron is suing Rogers over the Freedom Mobile deal, part of the latter’s merger agreement with Shaw to please government regulators.
