Bluesky 1.100 Update Adds New ‘Explore’ Page and Chat Reactions

Bluesky has begun rolling out its 1.100 software update, adding a few notable changes to the social media app experience. The new software, as detailed by the company, refreshes the search page as well as adds new chat reactions to DMs.

As noted by Bluesky, the search page is now rebranded as the ‘Explore’ page. Users can now find trending topics to navigate through and more suggested accounts to follow. The version 1.100 software also includes starter packs to help onboard new users and give them interesting people to follow based on their hobbies or industry.

The Explore page lets you search from the top. However, you’ll now find a selection of top trends under the search bar. These tagged trends are indications of subjects or key topics that may be trending on Bluesky at the moment. Users are also able to find a shortcut to edit interests. Using this, you can tailor what’s shown on the Explore page a little bit better.

Additionally, Bluesky’s latest software update allows users to share emoji reactions in DMs. Now, you can tap and hold a message and select an emoji to use as a reaction. This is very similar to how this feature works on iMessage, X (formerly Twitter), WhatsApp, and Instagram.

Prior to the update, Bluesky allowed users to tap and hold a direct message to bring up a menu to copy, translate, or delete the message. Now, these options appear underneath the message when you tap and hold.

Last month, Bluesky rolled out a software update adding DM filters, longer video upload support and more. The company is steadily adding new quality-of-life changes to improve the in-app experience for users.
