Google Rolls Out AI Video Creation in Gemini and Whisk

Google has launched new AI video tools that let users turn text or images into short, high-quality videos—no editing experience needed.
Starting today, Gemini Advanced subscribers can use its AI tool known as Veo 2 to create 8-second videos just by typing a description. The results are realistic, 720p clips that aim to reflect natural motion and real-world physics. Users simply type what they want to see—like a beach sunset or futuristic city—and Veo 2 generates a video based on that prompt.
The feature is now live in the Gemini app on web and mobile, with a monthly usage limit and support for all Gemini languages. Users can quickly share their clips on platforms like YouTube Shorts or TikTok.
Meanwhile, Google One AI Premium subscribers can try Whisk Animate, which builds on the existing Whisk image generator. It now allows users to take any AI-generated image and instantly animate it into a short video using Veo 2.
Google says all videos created with Veo 2 will be marked with SynthID, a digital watermark that confirms the video was made by AI. The company says it’s taken steps to prevent misuse, including testing to block unsafe or policy-breaking content.
Back in December 2024, Google unveiled Veo 2 and its Whist AI tool.
Both tools are now rolling out globally. You can try Gemini video generation at gemini.google.com and Whisk Animate at labs.google/whisk.
