Starlink’s $499 Kit Now Free in Canada—See If You’re Eligible

Stailnk hero iic.

SpaceX is offering new Starlink customers in Canada a free hardware kit — but only in specific locations, reports Tesla North.

The deal, quietly promoted through ads on X, gives eligible Canadians a $499 CAD Starlink satellite dish and setup kit at no cost—when they sign up for a 12-month residential plan. Regular monthly service still costs $140 CAD. Included is a free 30-day trial as well.

To find out if you qualify, you’ll need to enter your address on the Starlink website. The company says the offer is limited to certain areas across Canada, though a current map shows wide availability–check it out below:

The free Starlink kit includes:

  • Satellite dish
  • Wi-Fi router
  • Mounting gear
  • All required cables

The offer is part of a broader international promo. Italy is offering the $0 kit nationwide, while Germany and Australia are offering it in more limited areas.

“If your area is eligible, you will see the option when ordering after entering your address,” Starlink says.

This is one of Starlink’s most aggressive deals in Canada so far, aimed at expanding access to high-speed internet in rural and remote areas.

While Ontario has ditched its plans to adopt Starlink in response to U.S. tariffs, Quebec recently followed through with its plan for rural areas, citing there was not other alternative that’s as good at the moment. The Yukon recently said it would cancel “non-essential” Starlink accounts, while WestJet has adopted Starlink for in-flight Wi-Fi.

Wonder if the offer would exist if Muskolini wasn't the owner of the company? PR attempt as his various businesses plummet – literally and figuratively.

No money for Elon. I get that some people in remote areas need Internet access, but if you have any other option, maybe don't give that guy your cash.

Most of us (in Canada) who have Starlink internet have it because there is no viable alternative outside Canada's urban areas. So I doubt a Starlink boycott is going to have any legs – decent internet access is essential for most people.

This is a great deal, it will help a lot of communities that have trouble getting internet. It's already done wonders for people living way up north. I'm tempted myself to switch, but $140/month is a bit too high

Tried it in the Ottawa region and the price of the dish was not discounted so I didn’t get it. Wondering which areas of Canada are getting this offer?
