Yukon Targets Elon Musk: Tesla, Starlink, X Cut in Tariff Fight

The Government of Yukon is cutting ties with several U.S.-based companies, particularly those linked to Elon Musk, including Tesla, Starlink, and X, as part of its second phase response to new U.S. tariffs.
Premier Ranj Pillai announced the measures in reaction to tariffs introduced by the Trump Administration targeting Canada’s auto sector. He said the moves violate trade agreements and could harm long-standing cross-border partnerships.
People are upset with Tesla and Musk due to his political involvement with the Trump administration, which has led to protests, declining sales, and concerns over the company’s direction.
Effective immediately, Yukon said on Thursday:
- Rebates on Tesla vehicles and chargers under Yukon’s Good Energy program are cancelled. Incentives will still be available for zero-emission vehicles from other automakers.
- The government will review and cancel non-essential Starlink satellite internet accounts, keeping only those needed for emergency or core services.
- Yukon’s official X accounts will go silent, with future updates posted on Yukon.ca, Facebook, Bluesky, and other platforms instead.
The Premier said these steps are meant to push back against what he called “unjustified” U.S. tariffs and to support Canadian industries.
The move follows Phase 1 actions, which included pulling U.S. liquor from government shelves, prioritizing local suppliers in government purchasing, and drafting a $1 million support fund for Yukon businesses, pending budget approval.
Pillai encouraged Yukoners to support Canadian-made goods and travel within the country this summer instead of visiting the U.S. Yukoners can send feedback or ideas to ta*************@***on.ca.

This is great! Make Elon feel the heat
Evil Elmo is incapable of feeling the "heat" like all oligarchs.
You can't be serious….how many Teslas do you think they sold In Yukon? 5? All bought by the same virtue-signaling clowns in the local government, that now hates them???
Also…not sure if you looked at the microscopic population density there…"Boycotting Starlink" in a place that still uses dial up is a. Dumb and b. Totally irrelevant for the company.
Perfect timing too, just when I Starlink connected cell phones could have saved lives in Yukon. Bahahahaha….nope, can't make this up.
You can't fix stupid. So let's remove booze in a province where consumption is 10x the national average, cut reliable internet for all your pr0n (it's not like anyone there WFH) and stop subsidies on cars that won't run at -40C anyway…or won't run past the end of the driveway.
Sad to say but brain power has left the building.
So, keeping it for basically everything. Some boycott. Maybe they’ll just cut off schools.
Yup, the same crowd that screams out, "Sell your Tesla!" If we are all to follow their nonsense then who would be the ones buying their used Tesla? Hard to rationalize with stupid…
