iPhone 17 Air Early Hands on Previews Ultra-Thin Design [VIDEO]
Apple appears ready to redefine smartphone slimness with the upcoming iPhone 17 Air, a device widely rumoured to be the sleekest iPhone ever.

While the official unveiling is expected later this year, a new hands-on preview by popular tech reviewer Lewis Hilsenteger of Unbox Therapy has showcased updated dummy models, offering the clearest look yet at the ultra-thin form factor and design refinements.
According to recent leaks and mock-up demonstrations, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to measure just 5.5mm thick—a notable reduction compared to the iPhone 17 Pro models, which are rumored to come in at approximately 8.7mm. This dramatic thinning makes the iPhone 17 Air the slimmest iPhone Apple has ever produced.
The updated dummies shown in Hilsenteger’s video reveal a minimalist chassis that prioritizes slimness without completely compromising functionality. However, the model still accommodates a slightly raised camera bar, indicating some necessary hardware bulges to support modern photographic capabilities.
Hilsenteger, who famously helped ignite the viral “Bendgate” controversy in 2014 with his iPhone 6 Plus bend test, addressed the elephant in the room: could the iPhone 17 Air be too thin to withstand everyday stress?
He speculates the device could be prone to bending under pressure, but notes that Apple is reportedly countering that risk by adopting a hybrid titanium-aluminum chassis. Apple is also said to have reduced the screen size from a planned 6.9 inches to 6.6 inches, reportedly to help maintain structural rigidity.
