Air Canada Adds Free Bell-Sponsored Wi-Fi on More Flights

Bell free wifi air canada.

Aeroplan members can now enjoy free Wi-Fi on most Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, and Air Canada Express flights across North America, Mexico, and the Caribbean, thanks to a partnership with Bell.

The upgraded onboard Wi-Fi allows streaming, gaming, and more right from your devices such as your iPhone, Mac, and more.

“Quality connectivity has become indispensable for all travelers. Starting today we’re thrilled to offer complimentary Wi-Fi on North American, Mexican and Caribbean flights for Aeroplan Members, by partnering with Bell,” said Mark Nasr, Executive Vice President & Chief Operations Officer at Air Canada in a statement on Thursday.

“We’ve proudly sponsored in-flight Wi-Fi for Aeroplan Members since 2023, starting with free texting. Now, we’re thrilled to help take that experience to the next level – enabling streaming, gaming and more from gate to gate. Whether it’s in the air or around the world with our popular roaming plans in over 230 destinations, Bell is helping customers stay connected on their terms,” said  Blaik Kirby, Group President, Consumer and Small Business at Bell.

Aeroplan members just need to ensure their membership is linked to their booking. Once onboard, they can connect to the in-flight Wi-Fi network and follow the prompts. Devices can be switched mid-flight by repeating the process.

Wi-Fi installation on Air Canada’s Q400 aircraft, including those serving Toronto’s Billy Bishop Airport, is expected later this year — marking the first time any airline has offered Wi-Fi on the Q400. By early 2026, Wi-Fi will be available on 88% of Air Canada’s fleet, with plans to expand free streaming access to international routes that same year. You can search online to see if your flight has free Wi-Fi or not, by flight number or route.

For those without Aeroplan accounts, memberships can be created for free online, or Wi-Fi access can be purchased for a flat fee. Sponsored Wi-Fi from Bell launched last fall.

As for free Wi-Fi on other Canadian airlines, WestJet offers Starlink with a partnership with Telus.

While the wifi is free, as it should be, its still painfully slow. Making it free to everyone now only makes it even worse, almost unusable.
