Apple to Add AI Battery Saver to iPhones With iOS 19, Says Report
Apple is working on a new AI-powered battery management feature for iPhones as part of iOS 19, expected to arrive this fall, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
The update is said to use artificial intelligence to analyze how users interact with their devices and automatically adjust power usage to extend battery life. It will also add a lock screen indicator showing how long the phone will take to fully charge.
The move is designed to help offset expected shorter battery life with the rumoured iPhone 17 Air, which will have a smaller battery compared to current models. However, the new AI-powered feature will be available to all iPhones running iOS 19.
Apple is working on a refreshed look for iOS 19, codenamed “Solarium”, which will also be part of new iPadOS and macOS updates at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) set for June 9. Apple is also reportedly testing an AI-powered health feature codenamed “Mulberry”, expected to launch later.
Gurman reports that Apple’s priority this year is to ensure the new software releases are more stable and less buggy, after recent updates were criticized for glitches and unreliable features.
Yesterday, Gurman reported a new iOS 19 feature would make it much more seamless to connect to Wi-Fi portals across all your Apple devices when travelling.
Some people using Apple Intelligence say it’s already causing faster than normal battery drain. Maybe this feature will ironically reverse that by using AI?

The irony: AI strains device batteries. Did Qatar also give Tim a jet?
