Videotron’s Fizz is handing out a surprise gift to its mobile customers just in time for summer. The Quebec-based wireless provider announced it’s giving out a total of 50GB of free mobile data as part of its My Rewards program.
The bonus data comes as five separate perks of 10GB each, which customers can activate through their Fizz account any time over the next 150 days. Fizz says the offer is a way to thank customers for being part of its community.
“Summer is shaping up nicely for you, and your plan,” the company said in an email to customers, obtained by iPhone in Canada.
The fine print says once one of these perks are activated on your plan, you will have 30 days to use it.
We’ve seen Fizz dole out free data in the past. Last November it gave away 100GB of data to members (likely a way to retain customers ahead Black Friday and Boxing Day rival offers).
Fizz parent company Quebecor had a huge Q1, adding 54,400 mobiles lines, the biggest growth out of all telecoms in Canada, beating out Rogers, Telus and Bell.
While Fizz is only available via subscriptions online (like Public Mobile), it offers rollover data and also gifting of LTE data to other members, something other carriers don’t offer.
