Toronto-based Wealthsimple is giving away Apple AirPods to Canadians who move at least $25,000 into their accounts as part of a new promotion.
The deal runs from May 15 to June 16, 2025. To get in on it, you have to register either through Wealthsimple’s website, the app, or from an email or ad they send you. Then you must deposit or transfer at least $25,000 into a Wealthsimple account within 30 days.

The last time we saw this similar promo from Wealthsimple was back in 2023, when you had to deposit at least $40,000 to get a free pair of AirPods Pro 2. The new minimum of $50,000 works out to a 1% reward on a transfer. If you were about to make a transfer anyways, this might be a bonus on top.
Wealthsimple says the amount counts after subtracting any money you pull out or any margin balances. You’ll get an email confirmation once you register, and you can track your status in the Wealthsimple app or website.

This doesn't make sense financially…
Option A: You move 25k to a 1.75% interest rate account and must keep that money in there for 365 days = $437 interest rate + Airpods 4 (= $687 value total).
Option B: Invest that 25K in a 3.45% interest rate GIC or other promotional saving account (Tangerine for instance) = $862 in your pockets.
Option C: Invest in solid ETFs and expect 5 to 10% performance… $1250+ in your pockets.
Just buy the damn airpods if you want them…
You can move the 25k into savings/managed/individual stocks/ETFs
mostly comes down to "do you want to lock down 25k for a year"
