How to Watch the Google I/O 2025 Keynote Today

The annual Google I/O conference is being held today, May 20 at 1 PM ET/10 AM PT. Starting with a live keynote, Google may be using the event to reveal new hardware as well as software innovations for its global users.

Google I/O is being held in Mountain View, California. The event itself invites members of the media as well as developers to join on-site. However, the opening keynote is being live streamed to anyone interested in watching. Here’s what to expect and how to tune in.

Back in February, Google revealed that its I/O event will take place today. At the time, the company shared news that Google I/O will discuss “newest products, technologies and innovations in AI.” Following the keynote, breakout sessions, demos, and networking opprotunities will be held on May 21 for attendees.

This year, Google already launched its Pixel 9a, the budget-entry into its current series of smartphones. So, with this in mind, it’s unlikely Google will reveal a new budget-level smartphone. Outside of a new Pixel, it’s undetermined what Google may have up it’s sleeve as far as devices may be concerned.

Last week, Google kicked off the I/O festivities with ‘The Android Show: I/O Edition’ livestream. This pre-event put a lot of its focus on Android, highlighting new integrations and of course Android 16. During the 20-minute live stream, Google did discuss Android 16’s Material 3 Expressive, which is being touted as “the future of Google’s UX Design.”

Google may also use I/O to discuss its Android XR glasses. Last year, the company revealed Android XR, the software that’ll be used across immersive glasses technology, incorporating AR, VR, and MR. The glasses were also teased during the Android Show, so it’s expected they’ll appear in some capacity.

Google IO can be viewed on Google’s official website or via YouTube. Of course, you can just tune in below using the embedded video once the event is live at 1 PM ET/10 AM PT
