Donkey Kong Banaza Direct Announced for June 18

Nintendo has revealed that a Direct live stream will be held for the upcoming Donkey Kong Bananza. A 15-minute Nintendo Direct will air on Wednesday, June 18 at 9 AM ET/6 AM PT.

The company announced the Donkey Kong Banaza Direct via the Nintendo Today app. “Tune in on Wednesday, June 18, for a Donkey Kong Banaza Direct,” the post says. The presentation will feature “information” about the upcoming title being made for Nintendo Switch 2.

Donkey Kong Banaza is the latest high-profile launch for the new Nintendo hardware. Following the successful launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, which is shattering records, alongside Mario Kart World. Donkey Kong Bananza is the next first-party game in development that will launch on the Nintendo Switch 2.

Earlier this year, I went hands-on with Donkey Kong BananzaAfter spending around 20 minutes with the games, I walked away feeling like the upcoming 3D title was a clear winner for showcasing the generational leap the Nintendo Switch 2 offers. After a long hiatus of 3D games, Donkey Kong returns with a title revolving around semi-open world levels. As the titular character, players smash their way through levels, uncovering collectibles and secrets. The sheer amount of destruction, particle effects, and vibrant art made it feel like Donkey Kong Bananza was a true next-gen experience for Nintendo Switch 2 owners.

However, there’s still so much left for Nintendo to divulge. The company has yet to pull the curtain back on what the crux of the game is beyond the smash-and-grab collect-a-thon. On top of that, we still don’t know the actual development team that’s working on Donkey Kong Bananza. So, a Nintendo Direct dedicated to the upcoming game is welcome.

The Donkey Kong Banaza Direct will be live-streamed on Nintendo’s official YouTube channel, ahead of its July 17 release.
