Amazon Just Made Prime Delivery Faster in Alberta: Here’s What’s New

Amazon has rolled out faster delivery options for Prime members in Calgary, Edmonton, and nearby areas in Alberta.
Customers can now receive orders in as little as seven hours with Same-Day Delivery, or opt for Overnight Delivery for next-morning arrival—even on orders placed as late as 8:30 p.m. These faster delivery options were previously launched in the Greater Toronto Area, Southwestern Ontario, and Metro Vancouver last summer, and now available in Alberta.
According to Amazon, the goal is to improve delivery speeds by using local fulfillment centres—12 of which are in Alberta.
Prime members get free delivery on orders over $25 or pay $6.99 for smaller purchases. Non-members are charged $11.99 per order. Delivery windows for overnight orders include 4–8 a.m. or 7–11 a.m., and eligible items are marked with “Prime Same-Day” or “Prime Overnight” labels on the site.
Amazon says the faster delivery helps with last-minute shopping for essentials like medicine or travel gear. It also claims the system supports over 7,000 employees across the Prairies and boosts Alberta-based small businesses selling through its platform.
The expansion comes ahead of this year’s Prime Day, which runs for four days (instead of 2) starting July 8
