Grok 4 Launches: Elon Musk Dubs It ‘World’s Smartest AI’

Elon Musk and his xAI team have officially unveiled Grok 4, the latest version of the AI model that powers their chatbot, and Musk isn’t holding back. During a livestream on July 9, Musk called Grok 4 the “smartest AI in the world,” touting a major leap in reasoning, speed, and multimodal capabilities.
Available now for premium subscribers on X (formerly Twitter), Grok 4 boasts a slew of upgrades. The AI was trained on xAI’s Colossus supercomputer and, according to Musk, it’s reached a level where it “essentially never gets math or physics exam questions wrong,” unless they’re specifically designed to trip it up. He also claimed Grok 4 can detect errors or ambiguities in questions and adjust its responses accordingly.
“With respect to academic questions, Grok 4 is better than PhD level in every subject, no exceptions,” Musk boldly said during Wednesday’s livestream. “At times, it may lack common sense, and it has not yet invented new technologies or discovered new physics, but that is just a matter of time.”
Grok 4’s headline features include improved logical reasoning, faster response times, and better multimodal capabilities — meaning it can process text, images, and possibly even video in future updates. A specialized “Grok 4 Code” model has also launched, targeting developers with tools for advanced code writing, debugging, and explanation.
Musk further announced “Grok 4 Voice”, a more natural-sounding voice assistant, along with DeepSearch for real-time web data access, pulling live info directly from X. He went on to promise that Grok 4 will even be integrated into Tesla vehicles as soon as next week.
Grok 4’s test results are equally eye-catching. xAI’s new model ranks first on several major AI benchmark tests, including ARC-AGI-2, GPQA (graduate-level problems), and AIME 2025 math exams. It also topped LiveCodeBench for coding tasks. The ARC-AGI-2 test results are especially noteworthy as they were achieved independently by Arc Prize, suggesting Grok 4 is indeed a serious contender in the AI arms race.
Despite previous controversies over its uncensored content, xAI is doubling down on Grok’s edgy, unfiltered personality — but now with even more power under the hood.

TeslaInCanada neglects to mention in their glowing coverage that this is the AI that praised Hitler and called for a second holocaust. Can’t wait for it to be in cars soon 🥴
I guess this new version will be able to do that faster and smarter too.
