LG StanbyME 2 Portable Display Launches in Canada for $1,799

LG has begun its global rollout of the StanbyME 2 portable display. Innovating from the first portable model, the StanbyME 2 offering improved flexibility by allowing users to detatch the display from its wheeled docking stand. The new display is available in Canada for $1,799 this month.
The StanbyME display series is a unique addition to LG’s catalogue. The latest model adds the ability to detach the screen, offering enhanced portability over its predecessor. While still featuring a docking stand that can be moved from one room to another, the StanbyME 2 can be used as a framed wall clock or decorative display. Much like its predecessor, the StanbyME 2 supports landscape and portrait orientations, seamlessly adapting to both styles.
Featuring a 27-inch QHD display, the StanbyME 2 does not increase the screen size when compared to the original model. However, LG is improving the resolution, upgrading from 1080p to 1440p. Much like its predecessor, which was released in 2023, it includes built-in speakers and EQ settings that adjust automatically based on the orientation of the display.
The LG StanbyME includes a built-in battery, which the company states supports four hours of continuous video playback. If correct, the new unit offers a nominal battery upgrade from the three hours of playback that the predecessor offers. To charge the display, users can attach it to its docking stand or connect it to a USB-C external charger or power bank.
Since the original model launched in 2023, the first StanbyME offered webOS 6.0 support. The new iteration of the display now supports the A8 AI processor, with a resolution upscaler and AI brightness control. The AI-powered chipset includes the ability to optimize the picture quality based on ambient lighting and supports virtual 9.1.2 surround sound.
The LG StanbyME 2 is launching in Hong Kong and Türkiye this week. Canada, the US, Vietnam, and Singapore follow closely later this month. And in August, the UK, Germany, France and Spain will gain access to the display as well.
