Apple Sports Expanding Soccer Support, Launches in Mexico

The Apple Sports app is receiving a minor update, adding support for the FA Community Shield. The app is also launching in Mexico, expanding its footprint on the global market.
Apple Sports now supports the annual English football pre-season opener. “Follow the FA Community Shield as champions of the Premier League and the FA Cup face off at Wembley to start the season,” Apple states in the latest patch notes. This update arrives with a few minor tweaks made to the user experience.
As part of the 3.1 update, Apple has added new stats to the box scores, reflecting the game in real time. Moving forward, it should be easier to see how players are performing throughout a game. This arrives soon after the major 3.0 update for the app. Apple Sports revamped a lot of its designs to make it faster and more streamlined to see favourite sports and current matches.
Apple Sports is also launching in Mexico as part of the recent update. Users within Mexico can install the app as it now operates alongside Canada, the US, and the UK. The expansion allows Liga MX fans to stay up-to-date with the local team throughout the MLS Leagues Cup season.
Apple Sports first launched in early 2024. It’s available for free on the App Store, offering up-to-the-minute updates on a wide variety of sports. Earlier this year, Apple Sports added tennis to its roster, supporting scores from Grand Slam and ATP/WTA 1000-level events. The app is designed to contend with similar apps like theScore or 365Scores.
