Nintendo Switch Prices Increase in Canada on August 1st, Here’s How to Prepare

As a friendly reminder, on Friday, August 1st, Nintendo is increasing prices surrounding the Switch console, games, and accessories.
Earlier in June, Nintendo made a brief announcement, confirming that prices were increasing in Canada due to changes “based on market conditions.” It was earlier reported that price increases will hit the Nintendo Switch (OLED Model), Nintendo Switch standard console, Nintendo Switch Lite, physical and digital Nintendo Switch games and accessories.
Thankfully, the price increase will not affect the Nintendo Switch 2 console, physical or digital games, or accessories.
Nintendo opted not to reveal new prices until August 1st. On Friday, the company will be posting Canadian market-specific prices to the website. This leaves customers to make one of two decisions. Canadians can either wait until Friday to see what the new prices will be and make decisions on purchases following the increase in prices. Or, customers can be strategic in the last few days of the current price in Canada.
For instance, the Nintendo Switch (OLED Model) is currently $449 in Canada. While it’s purely speculation to assume what the new price will be, $449 is already a high price for an OLED display console. So, if you’ve been eyeing adding a Nintendo Switch (OLED Model), standard Nintendo Switch, or Nintendo Switch Lite, you may want to pull the trigger before Friday.
Software is really where a lot of emphasis is placed. In many cases, Nintendo Switch games cost $79. This current pricing model includes games like Super Mario Odyssey, Super Mario Bros Wonder, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Mario and Sonic At The Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, etc. While other titles like Balatro and Switch Sports are available for less, it’s encouraged to cross off that game that’s been sitting on your list before a price increase hits.
It’s also worth noting that both Nintendo Switch Online and its Expansion Pack will be affected by the price increase as well. If you’re not currently a subscriber but have been wanting to, there are two days left to sign up at the respective $25 and $64 annual subscription prices.

The Switch 1 was already terrible value, who's gonna buy one now that they increase the price and the Switch 2 is out…
There's litteraly 50$ difference between the OLED and Switch 2
I don't get it, how is this good value for Canadians? The cost is far too high.
Market conditions? They've been gouging us on game prices for ages. This is just an excuse to increase prices even though the sequel is out.
When a Nintendo Switch gets closer and closer to the price of a PS5, there should be issues. Seems no one sees it this way.
