Nintendo Switch 2 Sales Reach 5.82 Million in 7 Weeks While Struggling to Meet Demand

Nintendo Switch 2 sales have reached 5.82 million since the console launched on June 6th. The company released its latest earnings report, highlighting the breakneck speed at which the latest console is selling worldwide.
According to Nintendo’s Q1 earnings report, the Nintendo Switch 2 has more than doubled the 2.7 million unit sales of the original Nintendo Switch during its first month on the market. With this all in mind, Nintendo’s ambitious target of selling 15 million Switch 2 units by March 2026 is well within reach.
Nintendo is also experiencing a rise in quarterly revenue thanks to the Nintendo Switch 2. The company reports a 132 percent increase between April and June 2025. This resulted in an increase of ¥572.3 billion (around $5.09 billion CAD). This figure is compared to the ¥246.6 billion (roughly $2.27 billion CAD) for the same period last year.
Despite positive earnings and sales thanks to the Nintendo Switch 2, the company realizes that it still needs to increase production to meet demand in many global markets. “Currently, demand for Nintendo Switch 2 is exceeding supply in many countries, and we regret the inconvenience this is causing our consumers,” Nintendo said in its report.
In Canada, preorders for the Nintendo Switch 2 sold quickly. However, upon launch, retailers were able to maintain stock for the console. Ahead of its release, Nintendo was able to build its inventory for North America, ensuring retailer shelves were stocked. Now, nearly two months after launch, you can typically find a Nintendo Switch 2 at most brick-and-mortar stores. However, this isn’t the case in all regions.
Nintendo Switch 2 software was also strong during the period. Over the quarter, Nintendo saw 8.67 million units sold. This is strongly bolstered by games like Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza. This is on top of the 24.4 million units of software sold for the original Nintendo Switch. It’s worth noting that most games are backwards compatible, ensuring strong sales for Nintendo Switch 2 owners.
In Canada, Nintendo Switch prices increased starting today. Prices across original Switch hardware, software, and accessories all rose “based on market conditions”. New prices have been revealed, with games now costing upwards of $84.
