Xbox Design Lab is Back Online After 6 Months of Being ‘On Hold’

Microsoft’s Xbox Design Lab is finally back after an extended 6-month period of being taken offline. Players can once again customize and order their very own tailored Xbox Wireless Controller or Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2.

Xbox suddenly announced the news, stating, “Xbox Design Lab is back.” Customers can begin crafting their own controllers by heading to the website. On Xbox Design Lab, players can choose from an assortment of colours, textures, themes, and features.

Since the inception of Xbox Design Lab, the web portal and delivery of custom controllers have been met with positive reception, overall. With the ability to create tailored Xbox Wireless Controller and Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 controllers, Xbox Design Lab is a great option for gifting or buying a special themed kit for the collection.

On the website, Xbox also lists inspired designs for games like Avowed and Sid Meier’s Civilization VII. There are also Xbox Design Lab Game Collection designs to choose from across Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Fallout.

The price of a custom Xbox Wireless Controller ultimately depends on how much you customize and add on to the design. You can add on rubber grips and even engraved text (of up to 16 characters). These add-ons will increase the overall price. However, in Canada, the standard price is around $100.

Xbox Design Lab is up and running in Canada and all other major markets where the portal was operating at the top of the year. Microsoft pulled Xbox Design Lab down roughly six months ago as the company swapped to a different payment platform. This caused a disruption, halting all new orders. Whether or not any other internal disruptions impacted the 6-month pause has yet to be identified.
