Meta’s Threads Passes 400 Million Monthly Active Users
Meta’s Threads now has more than 400 million people using the platform each month, according to Instagram head Adam Mosseri.
In a post on Threads, Mosseri said the milestone was reached a few weeks ago, calling the platform’s growth over the past two years “quite the ride.” He said the service began as “a zany idea to compete with Twitter” but has since become “a meaningful platform that fosters the open exchange of perspectives.”
“I’m grateful to all of you for making this place what it is today,” Mosseri wrote, adding that more updates are on the way.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg also commented on the milestone, writing, “Threads on the up and up — just passed 400M monthly actives on here.”
Threads launched in July 2023 as a text-based social platform linked to Instagram. It has been positioned as a rival to X, with a focus on posts, conversations, and public discussions. Threads was tied to Instagram logins so it allowed for existing users to easily join the new app.
