Fan Expo Canada 2025 Returns to Toronto On August 21: Everything to Know

Fan Expo Canada is opening up its doors for another weekend of fandom in Downtown Toronto at the Metro Convention Centre. The convention is running from Thursday, August 21st, through Sunday, August 24th.

As is expected, Fan Expo Canada will be celebrating everything in pop culture and nerd culture all under one roof. With celebrations and panels dedicated to film, television, comics, and gaming, the weekend-long event has a little bit of everything, no matter what you’re a fan of.

This year’s list of celebrity guests is undoubtedly bolstered by the attendance of Back to the Future stars Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd. Mary Steenburgen, who also starred in Back to the Future III, will be joining as well. Sinners star Hailee Steinfeld is also appearing. Other big-name attendees include Star Wars‘ Ewan McGregor, Smallville’s Tom Welling. Dafne Keen and Peggy the Dog from Deadpool & Wolverine are also confirmed to be present. So, if you’ve been eager to attend a panel or get an autograph from your favourite celebrity, this may be your chance.

Notable panels include ‘An Evening with Marty and Doc, Celebrating 40 Years,’ in which Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd sit down on Friday, August 22nd, to reflect on the franchise and the cultural impact it has had.

The gaming industry is also being celebrated in some big ways this year. Many marquee voice actors will be coming to Toronto to attend Fan Expo as well. This includes famed actor Troy Baker, who many will recognize from Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, as well as The Last of Us. Baldur’s Gate III’s Neil Newbon and Resident Evil’s Nick Apostolides are also confirmed. From Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Yuri Lowenthal and Nadji Jeter will also be at the Metro Convention Centre.

Nick Apostolides, Nolan North, Todd Haberkorn, and David Kaye will all be sitting down together on a panel on Friday, August 22. The group will be discussing their time voicing iconic characters in the gaming industry and fielding questions from the audience.

For those looking to attend and check out some new games, Nintendo has confirmed its attendance. Fresh off the heels of the Nintendo Switch 2 launch, attendees will be able to get their hands on a number of upcoming games. Confirmed titles include Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, and Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World. Many third-party titles will also be playable, including Hades II, Borderlands 4, and Elden Ring Tarnished Edition.

The Bell Esports Challenge returns to Fan Expo Canada once again. The live, in-person finals will be taking place at the convention, where competitors will be facing off for their chance to win $60,000 in prizes. This year, a 4v4 Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 tournament is being held with teams competing for a share of $23,500. Rocket League and Valorant competitions are also being held on-site.

Notable exhibitors this year include Paramount, which is returning with The Lodge installation. Disney+ will also be on the showroom floor. Netflix has an installation dedicated to Wednesday Season 2. LEGO, eBay, Cineplex, Retrokid, and AMD will all be on the convention floor with activations and experiences to discover throughout the weekend.
