iPhone 17e Expected to Feature New Design, A19 Chip, and More

According to Weibo leaker “Digital Chat Station,” Apple’s budget friendly iPhone 17e may launch in early 2026 with Dynamic Island, A19 chip, and upgraded cameras but keep the 6.1-inch OLED display (via MacRumors).

Despite its focus on affordability, the iPhone 17e is said to replace the traditional notch with Apple’s Dynamic Island interface, bringing the user experience in line with the flagship iPhone 15 and newer. The device will retain the same display with a 60 Hz refresh rate as its predecessor, the iPhone 16e.

Performance is expected to get a boost through Apple’s A19 chip. In terms of photography, the device is rumored to come with a rear 48-megapixel camera and a front 12-megapixel Face ID enabled camera.

Industry analysis suggests Apple plans to establish an “e” model update each year, likely to diffuse attention from spring time color updates and maintain momentum between flagship unveils. Indeed, some reports indicate trial production may already be underway, with a probable release in May or early half of 2026.

Spanish media coverage adds that the iPhone 17e may feature familiar build materials such as aluminum frame and glass back and possibly bring back MagSafe support to reach mid tier buyers looking for modern connectivity.

While the regular iPhone 17 models are set for a September 2025 launch with premium enhancements like 120 Hz ProMotion displays and more powerful cameras, the 17e would serve as an accessible option offering a tasteful compromise between value and modern features. The key selling point remains affordability.

Even with upgraded internals and the Dynamic Island, the iPhone 17e will likely carry a lower price tag than the flagship models to attract value oriented consumers and those upgrading from older devices.
