How to Watch Gamecom Opening Night Live 2025 and What to Expect

This week, Gamescom is being held in Cologne, Germany. One of the biggest gaming events of the year kicks off with Opening Night Live, a live-streamed event with new game reveals, trailers, and more.
Opening Night Live is being hosted once again by The Game Awards’ Geoff Keighley. The event will see some of the biggest studios and publishers show off their upcoming games, padding out the release calendar for the remaining months of 2025 and beyond. Gamescom Opening Night Live will begin at 2 PM ET/11 AM PT before the expo itself runs from August 20 through to August 24th. This year, Gamescom is expected to see upwards of 35,000 attendees.
As is tradition, Geoff Keighley is keeping things close to the chest when it comes to what will be shown throughout the show. However, there have been breadcrumbs and some announcements made ahead of Opening Night Live.
For instance, it’s been confirmed that the event will be home to the proper reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Following its brief announcement during the Xbox Games Showcase, Opening Night Live will be where we get to see a brand new look at the upcoming title from Treyarch.
Other notable titles that are confirmed to appear include Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem. Blizzard Entertainment is also highlighting World of Warcraft: Midnight. It’s also confirmed that The Outer Worlds 2, Ghost of Yotei, Ninja Gaiden 4 and Lords of the Fallen 2 will be shown in some capacity as well throughout the show.
Additionally, Opening Night Live will be used as an opportunity to showcase the upcoming second season of Fallout on Prime Video. The series is slated to debut in December, leaving lots of time for us to get the first official teaser or trailer during Opening Night Live.
The live-streamed event will also take time for a musical performance, celebrating the soundtrack behind this year’s critically acclaimed title, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
You can watch Gamescom Opening Night Live on the official YouTube channel or The Game Awards’ channel.
