iPhone 17 Series Battery Sizes Allegedly Leak Ahead of Launch
A new filing from China’s regulatory database may have given away the battery capacities for Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 lineup, just a day before the official launch, according to an image shared by leaker ShrimpApplePro.
According to the listing, the iPhone 17 Pro Max will pack the largest battery at 5,088mAh, while the iPhone 17 Pro comes in at 4,252mAh. The standard iPhone 17 is shown with a 3,692mAh battery.
Apple’s new thin model, the iPhone 17 Air, appears to have the smallest battery in the series at 3,036mAh, with another variant listed at 3,149mAh depending on region.
If accurate, these capacities suggest modest increases for the higher-end Pro models compared to last year, while the lighter iPhone 17 Air will trade battery size for a slimmer design. The two versions you are seeing are based on versions with and without eSIM.
- iPhone 17 Pro Max — 5,088 mAh, up 8.6% from the iPhone 16 Pro Max (4,685 mAh).
- iPhone 17 Pro — 4,252 mAh, up 18.7% from the iPhone 16 Pro (3,582 mAh).
- iPhone 17 — 3,692 mAh, up 3.7% from the iPhone 16 (3,561 mAh).
- iPhone 17 Air — 3,036 mAh / 3,149 mAh (new slim model, no iPhone 16 equivalent).
From what some people have shared on X, their iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro batteries have held up battery health to about 99-100% after one year, suggesting we are seeing improvements in longevity. Who’s upgrading to an iPhone 17 series?
Apple is set to officially unveil the iPhone 17 lineup at its September 9 event tomorrow, so let’s wait and see if this is going to be true or not.
