Canadian Pricing: Google’s New 2K Nest Cams, Doorbell, Home Speaker are Here

We’ve reached October 1 and that means the unofficial “tech-tober” is here. Yesterday we heard about new updates to Amazon’s home devices and security lineup. Today, it’s now Google’s turn to update its smart home lineup.
Google has announced refreshed versions of its Nest cameras and doorbell. The new hardware focuses on sharper video, better low-light performance, and improved durability.

he Nest Cam Indoor (wired, 3rd gen) will cost $129.99 in Canada. It features a 2K sensor with HDR, recording video at 30 frames per second in a 16:9 aspect ratio. The camera covers a 152-degree diagonal field of view and offers up to 6x digital zoom. Night vision is powered by two infrared LEDs and works up to 15 feet in dark rooms. The unit supports 24/7 live view, two-way audio with noise cancellation, and secure video encoding in H.264 and H.265. Power comes from a 10-foot USB-C cable, and the device can be mounted on a wall or placed on a tabletop. Since it’s rated for indoor use only, it’s best suited for entryways, living rooms, or nurseries. There’s a new berry colour that really pops.

The Nest Cam Outdoor (wired, 2nd gen) is priced at $199.99 for one or $339.99 for a two-pack. It also records at 2K HDR with 30 FPS and a 152-degree field of view. Like the indoor model, it includes 6x zoom and two-way audio, but is built to withstand Canadian weather with IP65 water and dust resistance. Night vision stretches farther outdoors, with up to 20 feet of illumination.
The camera connects via dual-band Wi-Fi, includes Bluetooth Low Energy for setup, and comes with an 18-foot weather-rated power cable. A wall mount and clips are included for a permanent install. It’s available in Snow, with a Hazel finish limited to the U.S.
What about an updated Nest Cam with Floodlight update to 2K? During a media briefing last week, when asked about this omission by iPhone in Canada, Google just replied, “stay tuned”. Take that for what it’s worth.

The new Nest Doorbell (wired, 3rd gen) will sell for $239.99. It looks the same as before but this time uses a square 2K sensor that delivers a 1:1 aspect ratio, paired with a 166-degree field of view to capture visitors from head to toe. You’ll soon be able to zoom in on recordings. The camera shoots HDR video at 30 FPS and includes six infrared LEDs for night vision up to 10 feet.
Like the cameras, it supports two-way audio with noise cancellation. The doorbell is designed for homes with 16–24V wiring and is bundled with a chime connector for compatibility with existing wired chimes. Rated IP65, it’s built to handle Canadian weather, and comes in Snow, Hazel, or Linen.
In terms of image quality, Google said third-party tester DXOMARK gave all three of their new cameras first in class for image quality. We’ll have more to share about the Nest Doorbell 2K soon–stay tuned.
As for Wi-Fi, all three Nest updates still use 802.11ac, so if you were hoping for wireless updates, it doesn’t seem to be here this time around.
New Gemini Home Premium Plans
The new Nest devices of course will support event video history with the new revamped Google Home app, though extended storage and continuous video recording require a Google Home subscription, which now comes in Standard and Advanced, priced at $13 CAD/month or $130 CAD/year and $26 CAD/month or $260 CAD/year respectively (CAD pricing added).
But if you have a Google AI plan, such as AI Pro ($26.99/month), that includes a Standard Home Premium plan. A Google AI Ultra plan ($339.99/month) will include the Home Advanced plan at no extra cost.

Joining today’s lineup update is the Google Home speaker, set to arrive in March 2026 for $139.99 CAD. Built for Gemini, Google’s AI assistant, the speaker is designed for faster and more natural conversations. A new light ring provides visual cues when Gemini is listening, reasoning, or responding, as seen below:

The device delivers balanced 360-degree sound and can be paired with a Google TV Streamer for cinematic surround audio. Users can also group multiple units for multi-room playback or link two as a stereo pair. Privacy is handled through a physical microphone mute switch. Wrapped in premium, recycled materials, the Home Speaker comes in four finishes: Porcelain, Hazel, Jade, and Berry.
As for updated Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max smart displays? Google did not have anything announce today.
