Videotron Pushes Deeper Into Quebec With Helix Internet and TV Expansion
Videotron has expanded its Helix Internet and TV platform to Drummondville, Magog, Rimouski, and Saint-Hyacinthe, adding nearly 93,000 households to its service area.
The rollout gives residents in those cities access to Helix high-speed Internet and customizable TV packages. The service includes features such as a voice-activated remote and support for managing connected home devices.
“Videotron is very pleased to welcome residents of Drummondville, Magog, Rimouski and Saint-Hyacinthe to the Helix family,” said Pierre Karl Péladeau, President and CEO of Quebecor, in a statement to iPhone in Canada on Wednesday. “This expansion of our Internet and television services furthers our mission of fostering healthy, vigorous competition that directly benefits consumers.”
Videotron already offers mobile service in these markets. With Helix now available, customers can bundle wireless, Internet, and television from a single provider.
This move follows a recent expansion of Helix to Trois-Rivières, Huntingdon, and Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, part of the company’s wider push to challenge incumbents in Quebec’s telecom market, mainly Rogers, Telus and Bell.
Videotron’s Helix service comes in three options. Customers can subscribe to Internet only, with unlimited data, customizable speeds, and a smart Wi-Fi gateway managed through the Helix Fi app. The TV App plan adds live and premium channels, on-demand content, streaming to up to five screens, casting support, and offline downloads.
The full TV plan includes all of those features plus IPTV with a voice remote, access to built-in apps like Netflix and Prime Video, 4K content, and the ability to record up to eight shows at once with 100 hours of storage.
Residents can check availability and sign up for Helix service online or at local Videotron stores.
