Videotron has rolled out its fastest Giga Internet service to more areas across Quebec, giving over 350,000 new households access to download speeds of up to 940 Mbps.

The expansion includes regions like Québec City, Outaouais, Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, Hautes-Laurentides, and MRC de Rivière-du-Loup. The company says the service is built for people using lots of connected devices at once, such as big families and small businesses.

“This expansion demonstrates our commitment to investing in state-of-the-art telecommunications infrastructure in order to bring Quebecers the most advanced technologies,” says Jean B. Péladeau, Senior Vice-President and Chief Marketing Officer of Videotron, in a statement to iPhone in Canada. “Videotron GIGA Internet meets the growing needs of families and businesses that simultaneously use multiple connected devices and increasingly bandwidth-hungry applications.”

The company also added new latency management tech to reduce lag during busy hours, aiming to improve the overall online experience. According to Videotron’s website, an unlimited Giga plan with a “lifetime discount” starts at $70 per month and includes a Helix Fi gateway.

Videotron’s Giga internet launched back in 2016 and was originally priced from $149.95 per month.

And yet the best upload speed they can provide is 50mb/s. That's very very far from a "Giga", am I right?
How is that a "state-of-the-art telecommunications infrastructure"?
I'm really thinking of switching to Bell to get acceptable upload speeds.
