Honda and Acura EVs Can Now Use Tesla Superchargers in Canada
Honda and Acura drivers in Canada can now plug into Tesla Superchargers thanks to a new Honda-approved NACS-to-CCS adapter. The adapter, priced at cool $400 CAD, is available through authorized Honda and Acura dealerships across the country. The adapter costs $225 in the US, which works out to about $313 CAD, so there’s definitely a bigger price tag in Canada (as always).
The expansion comes after Honda and Acura EV owners in the U.S. gained Supercharger access back in July.
The adapter has been tested for use with the Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX, giving owners access to more than 25,000 Tesla Superchargers across North America. Honda warns that using unapproved adapters could damage vehicles and might not be covered under warranty.
At launch, drivers will need to use the Tesla app to start charging, but Honda says future updates will integrate this directly into the HondaLink and Acura EV apps, along with support for plug-and-charge features.
Looking ahead, Honda says its drivers will have access to about 100,000 DC fast chargers across North America by 2030, including those on the IONNA network, Tesla Superchargers, and other public charging stations.
Honda first announced in the fall of 2023 that it would adopt Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS), saying access would begin this year.
