Google Meet Now Lets You Wear AI Makeup on Video Calls: How to Try It

Google meet makeup.

Google is rolling out a new feature in Meet that lets users apply AI-powered makeup effects during video calls. The update expands on last year’s “Touch-up” tool, which let people smooth their appearance on camera.

The new option includes 12 different makeup styles, ranging from subtle, professional looks to more creative ones. The effects automatically adjust to facial movements — like drinking coffee or touching your face — to stay natural and consistent, explained Google on Monday.

The feature can be turned on manually in settings and works on both web and mobile versions of Google Meet. Preferences are saved for future meetings. So what’s the benefit? Well the AI effect can help you save time from doing makeup in the morning ahead of your video call.

Looking at Google’s example, the AI makeup feature looks pretty good and your video call participants might not be able to tell it was done by AI.

There are makeup presets and once you select one, it’s applied to your face in real-time.

Google says the feature started rolling out gradually on October 8, and will be available to Workspace Business, Enterprise, and Education Plus users, as well as Google One and Workspace Individual subscribers (in other words, paying customers). The full rollout will take up to 15 days says Google.
