Public Mobile App Adds Face ID Login; Rewards Program Cut Now Live
Public Mobile users can now log in to the app using Face ID or fingerprint authentication, starting October 16, 2025, as part of the company’s latest update.
The feature allows customers to access their accounts faster without typing passwords. To use it, users must update the Public Mobile app to the latest version on iOS or Android.
According to Public Mobile, all biometric data stays securely on each user’s device. “We won’t collect or store any of your fingerprint or facial recognition information,” the company said. The option can be set up the next time users log in or later through account settings on devices that support Face ID, Touch ID, or fingerprint unlock.
Reduced Public Rewards Values Now Live
While the login process is getting smoother, the rewards program is taking another hit. The company has removed the old $15 bill credit option from its Rewards Catalogue. Customers now need 20 points to redeem a $20 bill credit, meaning they’ll have to wait longer to claim a discount.
Also new is a 20 points redemption for an unlimited talk, text and 5GB data bundle for 15 days. There’s also a 25 points redemption for the same thing but for 30 days. Also new are 10 points for 1,000 long distance minutes to the Philippines and 10 points to get 1,000 long distance minutes to China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau, to go with 10 points for 1,000 long distance minutes to India and Pakistan.
This follows a change announced in August, when Public Mobile cut its points-back rate from 5% to 2%, reducing how quickly customers earn rewards. The company’s website was updated yesterday to reflect the lower earn rate on its plans page.
In short, while Public Mobile users get an easier way to log in, they’ll have to work harder to earn rewards.
