Samsung, Perplexity Bring Real-Time AI Engine to 2025 TVs
Samsung has today announced the launch of the world’s first TV-based app powered by Perplexity AI, effectively transforming its 2025 TV models into smart intelligence hubs rather than mere display devices.

On Samsung TVs, the new Perplexity TV app gives users a conversational way to ask virtually anything, from where to travel next to which movie was directed by a specific filmmaker, and get instant, easy-to-read results.
According to Samsung’s senior director overseeing new business development, the partnership marks a “first-of-its-kind” offering exclusive to Samsung TVs. The concept broadens the vision of what a television can do by offering personalized, interactive AI experiences built in.
Once the Perplexity app is installed on a compatible Samsung TV, users can access it via the TV’s Apps tab or through the Vision AI Companion interface by pressing the AI button on the remote. Voice input is supported once microphone access is granted, though on-screen or USB keyboard text entry remains an option.
Results are displayed as visually-rich cards tailored for big-screen viewing rather than just text, making them easier to scan from a couch.
The app works across a broad spectrum of queries. Whether you want dinner ideas, holiday planning, film trivia or more complex research, the Perplexity engine aims to deliver and suggest related angles to explore.
The Perplexity TV app is available immediately on all Samsung’s 2025-model TVs. Owners of 2023 and 2024 sets will receive access later in the year via a software update. As a launch incentive, Samsung users can redeem a 12-month free subscription to Perplexity Pro by scanning a QR code displayed in the app.

The launch builds on the earlier unveiling of Vision AI Companion at IFA 2025, which introduced features like Live Translate, AI Upscaling and more conversational control of content. By integrating Perplexity, Samsung widens its AI footprint in the home and offers users a genuinely new way to interact with television screens beyond streaming and apps.
