Apple’s Next iPad Pros to Get Key iPhone 17 Pro Feature, Says Gurman
Apple could bring its game-changing vapour chamber cooling to the iPad Pro as early as spring 2027, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
The feature is currently in development and would mark a first for Apple’s pro iPad lineup, according to Gurman in his Sunday PowerOn newsletter.
The idea is to better manage heat in Apple’s thinnest device, which is even slimmer than the iPad Air. Gurman notes the change could help boost sustained performance during demanding tasks.
Future iPad Pros are also expected to use Apple’s next M6 chip, built on TSMC’s 2-nanometer process for better speed and efficiency, and might show up by Spring 2027. While vapour chambers (a.k.a a huge camera bump) are already common in Android phones and gaming laptops, Apple is expected to frame the move as a major upgrade for pros to again open their wallets.
If successful, Gurman adds, the technology could eventually appear in other fan-less Macs like the MacBook Air. The shift would also help Apple draw a clearer line between the Pro and Air models, especially as the Air continues to adopt higher-end features like the 13-inch display and upcoming M4 chip.
Apple has way too many iPads right now. It’s just downright confusing. It’s no surprise features from the iPhone’s Pro lineup continues to make its way to the iPad Pro (think: Touch ID, Face ID, disappearing Home button, edge-to-edge displays, high-end camera features, LiDAR Scanner).
