Freedom Mobile Is Quietly Giving Away 40GB Ahead of Black Friday
Freedom Mobile is handing out surprise data bonuses right before Black Friday, giving select customers an extra 40GB per month at no charge.
iPhone in Canada reader Martin shared the text he received, saying Freedom suddenly boosted his plan without him asking.
The message he got reads: “Hi Martin, we’ve added 40GB/mo. of data to your plan to use in Canada, the U.S., and Mexico. No extra cost, no catch!” Freedom also added, “While others may raise prices, we’re raising the bar. We’re giving away over 30 million GB of monthly bonus data to our customers this year, just one more way we’re keeping wireless worry-free.”
The company closed by reminding him of its Price Freeze Promise: “your plan price (before any discounts and credits) stays locked as long as you keep your current plan.”
Martin thinks the timing is obvious. He told us, “Freedom gave me 40GB of data because they know my two-year contract ends in 15 days. I was actually about to switch to Rogers because I already arranged a really good deal with Nomad Telecom.” For those unaware, Nomad Telecom is a dealer for Rogers based in Gatineau, Quebec.
The free data isn’t random. It’s a way to retain customers that might be leaving once actual Black Friday offers drop. This is a classic telecom move to maintain churn rates.
Did you get any free data offers from Freedom Mobile this week?
So far, we’ve seen Black Friday “deals” shared by the following carriers:
We are waiting for Telus, Koodo, Public Mobile and Freedom Mobile to drop their Black Friday offers and they should be coming soon. Which telecom is going to win Black Friday in 2025?

I got 40GB free a few months ago. Instead of offering more data, how about reducing the price of the current plans? I already got a ridiculous amount of data that I will never use up. I see that companies are holding that $35/month level where u start getting decent offerings. Hoping that barrier is lowered this Black Friday.
I got this too, i was over my data of 100 anyways, now im at 140! thank you. its also matching my other lines now which got a 40gb bump a few months ago.
This is actually incorrect. I am on Pay As you go BYOD no contract and got the offer. So no its not for people who's contract is about to expire. I didn't need a contract for this. I had 39.00 60gb plan and now at 100gb with 40 extra GB they gave me.
