CBC Comedy Torches Rogers: ‘Make Me Call In Even Though You’re Right Here’

CBC’s 22 Minutes took aim at Rogers last week with a sketch mocking the company’s poor customer service. The segment shows a man walking into a Rogers store dressed in full leather S&M gear, excited to experience the telecom pain points Canadians usually complain about.
In the hilarious sketch, a Rogers employee promises that service will “still be terrible” and that everything will take longer than it should. The customer responds with exaggerated enthusiasm, saying he wants to be “locked into a plan” and “chained to a contract.” When the employee mentions a $65 plan, the man shouts, “Tell me it’s only $65, but when I get my bill, it’s well over a hundred. Yes. Hit me with hidden fees.”
The jokes keep building as he refuses international packages, says he wants to be “punished” by roaming fees, and celebrates an $80 setup fee with, “Take my money and spend it on a baseball player or something.” Even the wrong phone colour excites him, complaining that white will “show the dirt so much” before happily accepting it.
When the employee finishes setting him up, the customer immediately demands to cancel on the spot. The staff member reminds him he has to call in to do that, which the man treats as the perfect ending to his experience. “Make me call in even though you’re standing right here,” he says. “What’s this store even for?”.

Honestly, Rogers should just take it and run it as their new prime time ad.
