Rogers Adds Cruise Ship Coverage With a New Travel Passes

Rogers has introduced a new Land and Sea travel pass over the weekend that lets customers use their phone both on land and on cruise ships under a single roaming option.

The headline offering is a new U.S., Mexico and Caribbean + Cruises pass, priced at $100 for 7 days, which works out to just under $15 per day. Rogers says the pass is available on most cruise ships and includes roaming in the U.S., Mexico and dozens of Caribbean destinations. Customers can use their existing plan’s data, talk and text features like they would at home while travelling. On cruise ships, data is capped at 1GB per 24 hours at full speed, with reduced speeds after that limit is reached.

Alongside the new Land and Sea pass, Rogers is also expanding cruise ship support to several of its existing roaming options. Its International Daily pass costs $18 per day and now also works on most cruise ships, though it excludes the U.S., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Like the Land and Sea pass, cruise ship data is limited to 1GB per day at top speeds.

Rogers still offers regional multi-day passes for travellers who prefer a flat rate. These include Asia, Europe, Caribbean and Mexico passes, starting at $70 for 14 days or $80 for 30 days, depending on the region. For broader coverage, Rogers offers International passes covering more than 180 destinations, priced at $100 for 14 days or $110 for 30 days. U.S.-only passes are also available, starting at $60 for 14 days or $70 for 30 days, with a daily U.S. roaming option priced at $16 per day.

With these updates, Rogers is clearly targeting frequent travellers and cruise passengers who want predictable roaming costs without setting up roaming SIM cards or eSIMs or daily fees, especially when moving between ships and land-based destinations on the same trip.

Now, what about alternatives? You can buy eSIM data from a company like Saily (from the makers of NordVPN) for 7.99 USD (about $11 CAD) and that gives you 1GB of data to use over 7 days for 29 nations in the Caribbean, which does include the U.S. and Puerto Rico, unlike the Rogers offering. You set this up right on your iPhone or Android device and can skip paying $100 upfront, as you’ll have access to data (meaning you can make calls using FaceTime audio or WhatsApp).

That’s a massive price increase. The European passes used to be $50 for 14 days and $60 for 30. Now it’s $70 and $80? Surprised iPinC didn’t mention that.
