How to Disable Apple TV User Profiles Screen
Apple TV users who updated to the latest tvOS software have found a fresh welcome screen that asks them to pick a user profile each time they wake the device or power it on. Luckily, there is a way to turn this off so the Apple TV goes straight to the Home Screen.
This change appeared with tvOS 26 and was designed to make it easier for different family members to access their own profile by default each time they start watching. The profile chooser appears even when only one account is set up, which has frustrated some users because it adds an extra step before content can be accessed.
As shared by MacRumors, there’s an easy way to skip this new screen and dive straight into apps, movies or shows without making a selection.
To turn off the profile selection screen you need to navigate into the Apple TV settings.
Start by opening the Settings app on the Apple TV, then go to the section labelled Profiles and Accounts. In that menu there is an option called Choose Profile on Wake. Switching this option off means the system will stop showing the profile screen when it wakes up from sleep or is turned on.
Once this is done, the Apple TV will simply resume using whatever profile was active last, taking you directly to your Home Screen and avoiding the extra prompt.
