OnePlus Addresses Reports of Company Shutdown, Stating “Operations Continue as Normal”

In a bizarre 24 hours for phone maker OnePlus, the company has addressed recent reports of a looming company shutdown. OnePlus India CEO Robin Liu took to social media to confirm the company is “operating as usual and will continue to do so.”

This week, reports stemming from Android Headlines began to appear, claiming that OnePlus may be dismantled. Citing independent sources, the report claimed OnePlus would be ceasing operations by its parent company, Oppo. The original report noted that several signs, including lowered levels of phone shipments across the globe, indicated company cutbacks.

However, this does not appear to be the case afterall. The online statement provided by Liu seemingly confirms these reports regarding OnePlus “shutting down are false.” OnePlus India’s business operations are said to “continue as normal”. The company is also urging stockholders to “verify information from official sources before sharing unsubstantiated claims.”

According to the original report, analysts claim OnePlus phone sales have dropped to roughly 13 to 14 million units in 2024. That figure is down significantly from the 17 million in 2023. That said, Oppo sales have increased throughout the same period. This may have been the root cause for Android Headline’s sources to begin spelling doom and gloom.

In 2025, OnePlus launched its latest flagship, the OnePlus 15, as well as the more budget-friendly OnePlus 15R. However, the company has seemingly cancelled the release of its OnePlus Open 2, the widely anticipated successor to its 2023 foldable phone. The OnePlus 15s may have also been cancelled, according to Yogesh Brar.
