Rogers Reveals a Stunning New Hockey Jersey Made from Your Donated Sweaters

Rogers has unveiled what it calls The Great Canadian Jersey, a patchwork hockey jersey made from donated jerseys from across the country.

The jersey was created by Cameron Lizotte, a former OHL player who is now a fashion designer. The design pulls together pieces of hockey jerseys from every province and territory, mixing professional, minor, and recreational teams to reflect hockey’s reach across Canada.

The project began after Edmonton Oilers star Connor McDavid donated one of his own jerseys, which kicked off a donation drive that brought in hundreds of jerseys from Canadians nationwide.

“The Great Canadian Jersey is an artistic celebration of how hockey connects Canadians,” said Terrie Tweddle, Chief Brand and Communications Officer at Rogers, in a statement on Thursday. “We’re grateful to fans across the country who donated a jersey from their own collection to show their pride for our game.”

The finished jersey includes material from every province and territory, all seven Canadian NHL teams, and jerseys worn by players such as McDavid, Marie-Philip Poulin, and Sarah Nurse. It also features pieces from minor hockey, women’s and girls’ teams, beer leagues, and old-timers hockey.

“The design process for The Great Canadian Jersey was rooted in collaboration and storytelling, and the pride we all share in our game,” Lizotte said. “Every stitch is intentional, and every patch has meaning. Together, with representation from every province and territory, the jersey is a symbol of unity and a single expression of Canadian identity.”

The grand prize winner of the Rogers VIP hockey road trip will be selected today by random draw following the national contest that brought in hundreds of jerseys from across the country.

Rogers and Lizotte have made five versions of the jersey, which will be worn by Canadian hockey players in the coming weeks and used as part of a national advertising campaign.
