Toronto-based fintech Wealthsimple appears to be having an outage, as customers can’t buy or sell stocks right now.
Numerous customers on Reddit are saying they can’t make trades using the app, but the website still works. When you navigate to stock, the message “we’re having trouble loading this” and a “refresh” icon appears. This area is where you typically would buy and sell stocks.
According to the Wealthsimple status page, it says “all systems operational” and doesn’t indicate any down time. Customers can access their account balances, but it seems executing any trades is either not possible or taking longer than expected.
So what’s the workaround right now? Use wealthsimple.com to buy or sell as the app seems to have some issues right now.
