Get Live Golf Scores on Your iPhone Lock Screen
Apple just released a major update to its free Apple Sports app, finally bringing golf into the fold. Starting this weekend, you can follow every official PGA Tour and LPGA Tour event directly on your iPhone.
The timing is perfect, as the update arrives just before the PGA’s WM Phoenix Open. Whether you are rooting for Canadian favorites like Corey Conners or Brooke Henderson, or just following the world’s top-ranked players, the app now gives you a specialized way to do it.
What makes this update stand out is the level of detail. Instead of just a general leaderboard, you get round-by-round scorecards for every single golfer. You can dive into hole-by-hole results to see exactly where a player gained or lost a stroke.
If you have a busy weekend and can’t stay glued to the TV, the app uses Live Activities. This means you can see real-time scores and tournament leaders right on your Lock Screen or Apple Watch without having to unlock your device. It is a clean, fast way to stay updated while you’re out and about.
While golf is the headline, version 3.7 of the app includes several other improvements for sports fans:
- New Soccer Cups: Support has been added for major European tournaments, including the Copa del Rey (Spain), Coppa Italia (Italy), Coupe de France (France), and the DFB-Pokal (Germany).
- Tennis Upgrades: Tennis coverage now includes real-time stats, making it much easier to track the flow of a match.
- Super Bowl Integration: With the Super Bowl just around the corner, the app is also ready with dynamic drive charts and play-by-play updates.
The app is free to download and works on any iPhone running iOS 17.2 or later. It is currently available in Canada, the U.S., the UK, and several European countries.
