Google’s Fitbit AI Health Coach Arrives in Canada on iPhone

Google is widening access to its AI-powered Fitbit Coach, bringing the experience to iPhone users and expanding availability beyond the United States.

In a blog post this week, Google announced that “Fitbit’s personal health coach is expanding to more people around the world.” Previously limited to eligible Fitbit Premium users in the U.S. as an opt-in preview, the feature is now rolling out in English to Premium subscribers in Canada, the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore. At the same time, the preview is finally making its way to iOS after initially launching as an Android-only experience. The company notes the rollout will happen “starting today and over the next few weeks.”

Google added, “Eligible users will receive an update within their Fitbit app. We can’t wait for more people to try it out and give us feedback along their health journey.”

First unveiled last August as an AI-powered personal health coach inside Fitbit Premium and later released in public preview in October, the Gemini-powered experience is designed to act as a fitness trainer, sleep expert, and wellness advisor all in one. After a short onboarding chat about your goals and preferences, Fitbit Coach generates a personalized plan inside the redesigned Fitbit app.

The updated app now features dedicated Today, Fitness, Sleep, and Health tabs. In the Fitness section, users get suggested workouts, step targets, and cardio goals that adjust dynamically based on real-time data like recent activity levels or recovery. You can ask natural-language questions such as “Create a 30-minute upper body workout I can do in my hotel room” or “What exercises are best for building biceps?” and receive tailored guidance.

Sleep and health insights are also deeply integrated, with users able to ask questions like “Why did I wake up feeling tired today?” or request weekly sleep summaries. Metrics such as SpO2, resting heart rate, HRV, and skin temperature are organized into streamlined health dashboards.

To access the preview, users need a Fitbit Premium subscription and a compatible Fitbit tracker, smartwatch, or Pixel Watch. The expansion also comes as Google continues its broader Fitbit transition, including the recently extended deadline for mandatory Fitbit-to-Google account migration, now set for May 19, 2026.

With AI increasingly central to Google’s wearables strategy, bringing Fitbit Coach to iOS significantly broadens its reach — especially in key markets like Canada and the U.K.
