New ‘Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu’ Trailer Arrives with Release Date

Lucasfilm has released a new trailer and poster for the upcoming film Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, confirming the movie will hit theatres on May 22, 2026. The film was first announced to be in the making back in January 2024.
The story follows bounty hunter Din Djarin (played by of course Pedro Pascal), and his apprentice Grogu as they navigate a galaxy following the collapse of the Empire. While the New Republic attempts to maintain order, the duo faces remaining Imperial warlords still active in the outer reaches.
Directed by Jon Favreau, the film features a cast that includes Sigourney Weaver and Jeremy Allen White. The project is produced by Favreau alongside Kathleen Kennedy, Dave Filoni, and Ian Bryce, with Ludwig Göransson returning to compose the score. The movie was filmed for IMAX.
This is the first Star Wars film to hit theatres since The Rise of Skywalker in 2019.
This big screen adventure marks a shift for the characters from their original home on the Disney+ to a global theatrical release. For any fans of the TV series that helped kick start and drive new Disney+ subscriptions back in 2019, this is going to be one to watch.
