Samsung Galaxy Buds 4 and Buds 4 Pro Launch With Best Design Yet

Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy Buds 4 and Galaxy Buds 4 Pro in Canada on March 11, bringing a refreshed design, smarter audio features, and deeper AI integration to its true wireless earbud lineup. The new models focus on comfort, adaptive sound, and hands-free controls, positioning them as stellar companions for Samsung’s newly-announced Galaxy S26 series.

Samsung has introduced a sleeker, more premium design across both models. The earbuds feature metal accents on the stem and top, paired with an ultra-sleek cut and a recessed panel for easier touch controls. The redesigned earbud head and panel are designed to improve comfort for long listening sessions while enabling pinch and swipe gestures. The charging case also gets a refresh, adopting a clamshell design with a transparent lid inspired by Samsung’s Galaxy Ring aesthetic.

Personally, speaking, the new design is my favourite. Looking back at the evolutionary changes made to the way Galaxy Buds look and feel, Galaxy Buds 4 nailed the premium look. During my albeit short time with the new buds, I enjoy the new aesthetic, though I wonder how that’ll translate to comfort during long use.

As far as meaningful technology improvements are concerned, the Galaxy Buds 4 feature a single dynamic fibre speaker with a full-range driver handling all audio frequencies. The Galaxy Buds 4 Pro step things up with a 2-way speaker system, featuring a larger woofer and dedicated tweeter. Samsung says the Pro model offers a 20% larger effective woofer area, delivering deeper bass and clearer highs and mids.

Samsung is also leveraging Adaptive EQ and Adaptive Hearing, which dynamically adjust sound based on your environment and fit. The buds are able to detect when someone is speaking to you and automatically enable Ambient Sound, eliminating the need to remove the earbuds. Samsung’s Adaptive Noise Control activates when noise exceeds 85 dB, helping protect hearing while maintaining awareness.

This extends to the continued use of the AI-powered Siren Detection feature. Carried over from the Galaxy Buds Pro 3, when the earbuds detect a nearby siren (typically around 55 dB), they automatically switch to Ambient Sound mode so you can hear the incoming siren more clearly.

Samsung is adding more AI-driven controls to the Buds 4 lineup. Users can control the earbuds with head gestures, such as nodding to answer a call or shaking their head to reject it. This feature in particular feels like a meaningful addition to hands-free control. Though I do wonder about the sensitivity to head actions, it begs for more in-depth testing.

Bixby and Gemini work together for seamless AI access, and users can trigger either assistant without changing settings. The buds also support real-time interpretation, helping translate conversations on the fly. Other ecosystem features include Super Clear Calls with wideband enhancements (up to 16kHz) for Galaxy phone users, seamless Bluetooth device switching, Samsung Find for locating lost earbuds, and tighter integration with Galaxy devices.

Galaxy Buds 4 and Galaxy Buds 4 Pro launch in Canada on March 11 in White and Black, with a Pink Gold model available exclusively online. The Galaxy Buds 4 launch at $249.99, while the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro release for $329.99.
