Bell’s New AI Data Centre Cluster Hits B.C. Interior: Here is the 2026 Plan
Bell is expanding its AI Fabric network through a new partnership with BUZZ HPC a subsidiary of HIVE Digital Technologies. The two companies are opening a specialized data centre in Merritt, British Columbia.
The Merritt facility is built to handle the intense heat and power demands of AI. It uses high-density, liquid-cooled infrastructure and advanced GPU clusters, which act like a high-speed engine for training AI models. BUZZ HPC has already secured 6.5 MW of power at the site, with plans to potentially add more in the future.
This move is part of Bell’s larger goal to hit $2 billion in AI-related revenue by 2028. There’s a huge race right now to offer AI data centres in Canada where info is stored locally instead of using foreign sites, to protect sensitive data.
“We are excited to deliver cutting-edge AI infrastructure and deployment expertise to our customers through our partnership,” said John Watson, Bell’s Group President of Business Markets. He noted that the Merritt site allows customers to run advanced workloads in a private and secure Canadian environment.
BUZZ HPC sources its data centre hardware from NVIDIA, leveraging the latter’s GPUs such as GB200 NVL72, HGX B200, HGX H200, and HGX H100.
The Merritt facility is expected to go online in the coming weeks. It joins existing Bell and BUZZ HPC projects across two provinces, creating a national platform for high-performance computing.
