Public Mobile Joins Price War: $25/80GB Canada-US-Mexico Plan, Axes 4G
Telus-owned prepaid brand Public Mobile has joined the mini weekend price war happening right now amongst Freedom Mobile, Fido, Virgin Plus and Koodo.
While Freedom Mobile has its $40/250GB global roaming plan back, but it also debuted a $35/80GB global roaming plan as well. Fido, Virgin Plus and Koodo have tried to match with their own $35/80GB Canada-US-Mexico plan.
Now, Public Mobile has made some big changes to its plan offerings, eliminating 4G plans entirely. Instead, we only see three 5G promo plans, which are available for 50% off for only 2 years, all with Canada-US-Mexico roaming. Prices are staring at $25/80GB which undercuts flanker brands:
Now, after two years these plans will jump back up in price to $50, $60 and $70 respectively, so you might be in for a bit of bill shock when that happens.
What are you going to do this weekend? Will you be switching plans?

Big letdown for me: Public Mobile does not offer Visual Voicemail !
Folks, you can use my referral code XPTRRR to get $10 off next billing cycle.
Thanks for your consideration!
Not applicable for existing customers 🙁
Who knows what will happen after 2 years? These deals 2 years down the road might be more expensive than what u could get by then. We can only hope.
You don’t have a contract so who cares? Move on to the next good deal.
I told Rogers about this and they put me on a corporate plan for $35 for a 100 gigs or $40 for 250 gigs
I tried that same approach with Fido back in January when Public Mobile had a similar 50% promotion. The guy at Fido wouldn’t do anything to even try and come close to Public Mobile. I ultimately moved three lines from Fido to Public Mobile, and have been saving over $100 per month ever since, with no noticeable change in service quality or data speeds.
Geez, as someone living solo I could probably make my phone my home internet at the $40 plan if it weren’t for the smart devices I want to control while I’m away.
