Freedom Mobile Just Cut Data on Its Entry Level $35 Plan by Massive 55GB
Freedom Mobile tweaked its plans list on Saturday, making a big change to its entry $35 per month plan.
The $35 plan with 1GB Roam Beyond saw its data bucket reduced to 25GB, down from 80GB, which is a 55GB reduction.
Here are Freedom Mobile’s plans as of April 20, 2026, after digital discount and for bring your own device:
- $35/25GB (was 80GB) + 1GB Roam Beyond
- $40/100GB + 5GB Roam Beyond
- $45/175GB + 10GB Roam Beyond
- $50/100GB + 10GB Roam Beyond
- $60/250GB + 20GB Roam Beyond
Aside from the $50/100GB option, Freedom has tagged its entire lineup as a “limited time offer.” The decision to throttle the data on this entry-level plan is a curious one, especially since carriers like Public Mobile had only just begun matching the previous 80GB threshold.
However, the strategy seems clear: by slimming down the $35 plan, Freedom makes the $40 tier look like a steal. For a mere $5 more, customers can jump from 25GB to a massive 100GB, which is a powerful incentive to spend just a little extra. A higher customer spend means a higher average revenue per user (ARPU) metric, which is great for quarterly earnings.
