Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform Launched at Next ’26
Google has just announced the launch of Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, a massive rebranding and evolution of Vertex AI, marking the end of the chatbot era and the beginning of the Agentic Era.
The services developers previously knew as Vertex AI have been folded into the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. This new ecosystem provides a single destination for technical teams to build, scale, govern, and optimize AI agents.
The goal is to move past experimental AI and into production-grade automation. Whether it is a marketing agent that can create entire campaigns or a supply chain agent that manages logistics without human intervention, Google is providing the tools to make it happen at scale.
To make agent building accessible, Google introduced Agent Studio. This is a low-code, visual interface that allows even non-developers to design agents using natural language. You can simply drag and drop logic to define how an agent should behave.
For more technical needs, the Agent Development Kit (ADK) has received a significant upgrade. It now uses a graph-based framework that allows developers to organize agents into a network of sub-agents. This means one primary agent can delegate specific tasks to a fleet of specialized agents to solve highly complex problems.
One of the most impressive features is support for long-running agents. Unlike traditional AI that responds and then “forgets,” these agents can maintain their state for days. They can work in the background on multi-step workflows, such as managing a multi-day sales prospecting sequence or performing deep research that requires hours of autonomous reasoning.
To manage this digital workforce, Google launched a new Inbox. This acts as a central command center for employees to monitor their agents. The Inbox categorizes notifications into “Needs your input,” “Errors,” or “Completed,” ensuring that humans remain in the loop for critical approvals without getting bogged down by the details.
As AI agents gain more autonomy, security becomes a major concern. Google addressed this with Agent Identity. Every agent is now assigned a unique cryptographic ID. This creates a permanent, auditable trail of every action an agent takes.
