Apple Is Finally Letting You Build Your Own Wallet Passes
Apple is planning to let iPhone users create their own passes in the Wallet app, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
The feature is aimed at situations where a business uses a QR code for entry but does not support Apple Wallet natively. Users will be able to import an existing QR code or create a pass from scratch using the iPhone camera, then customize it with different styles, colours, images, and text fields.
The option will be accessible through the “+” button in the Wallet app, the same place users currently add credit cards. Gurman says Apple is testing three templates: a standard pass in orange for general use, a membership pass in blue aimed at places like gyms, and an event pass in purple for tickets to games, movies, and similar occasions.
We may likely hear Apple announce or detail the feature at its upcoming WWDC event in June.
