The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Arrives on PVOD on May 19th

Nintendo and Universal’s Illumination have announced that The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is arriving on PVOD platforms on May 19th.
Following a worldwide box-office run, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will soon be available to watch from the comfort of your living room on PVOD services like Prime Video, Apple TV, Google Play Movies & TV, and Microsoft Movies & TV. The film will then be released on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray on June 16th, 2026.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is the stunning, beautifully animated follow-up to The Super Mario Bros. Movie and sees the return of Mario alongside other beloved Nintendo characters like Peach, Luigi, Bowser, and more. The cast must race into outer space to face off against Bowser Jr. and save Princess Rosalina.
The film features a star-studded returning cast, including Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black, and Keegan-Michael Key. Brie Larson, Donald Glover, Glen Powell, and Benny Safdie all join the cast as new characters in the world.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie digital release features over an hour of never-before-seen bonus content, including a guided deep dive into the Easter eggs hidden throughout the film. There’s also a ‘Making Of’ feature that includes behind-the-scenes clips featuring the filmmakers and artists at Illumination. Fans can also check out a featurette based on composer Brian Tyler and his process for creating the film’s score.
Premiered in theatres on April 1st, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie had a pretty successful run at the worldwide box office. The film has grossed $942 million worldwide on a $110 million budget. Despite a more tepid reaction from audiences, resulting in a 42% score on Rotten Tomatoes, the film has become the highest-grossing movie of 2026 so far.
