New Apple TV and HomePod mini Are ‘Nearly Ready’ For Launch: Bloomberg

Apple’s new model of its Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini are reportedly “nearly ready to go,” according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman. Both devices are being kept on the back burner as Apple prepares its upgraded Siri.

As per the latest from Gurman, the new Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini have been ready “for months.” Gurman claims that Apple isn’t ready to release them until the refreshed version of Siri is ready for launch. Apple has been struggling to develop the AI-powered version of Siri.

“I am told the hardware for the next Apple TV set-top box and HomePod mini has been done for months and that both devices are already in active use among employees at the company’s headquarters in Cupertino, California,” Gurman said in the latest PowerOn newsletter.

According to reports over the past few months, the new Apple TV 4K is said to feature the A17 Pro chipset to support deeper gaming integrations and stronger wireless capabilities. The current Apple TV 4K features the A15 Bionic Chip, which debuted on the iPhone 13 series in 2021.

With support of the A17 Pro, Apple TV 4K could theoretically offer Apple Intelligence features. Gurmain claims that the Apple TV’s Siri Remote could be “refreshed in some form.” The device is also expected to support Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread.

Apple’s refreshed HomePod mini, on the other hand, is a bit more exciting. It’s claimed that the device will feature an Apple Watch’s S9 chip or a newer processor. It may also support the N1 chip for improved sound quality, as well as an upgraded Ultra Wideband chip.

Apple is hosting its WWDC keynote on June 8th. It’s here that the company is expected to show off the refreshed version of Siri alongside iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27. Following WWDC, Apple should release the new software as part of beta testing programs prior to a global release in September. So, if Gurman is correct, the new Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini could arrive by late summer/early fall.
